NHS Fife have joined a number of Scottish Health Boards in using BadgerNet Maternity as their maternity care record. This will allow them to join the BadgerNet Maternity community in Scotland along with Grampian, Lanarkshire, Orkney, Shetland, Outer Hebrides, Dumfries and Galloway, and the Borders. Units already live with the BadgerNet maternity service are able to create a joined-up pregnancy view across Scotland. With new implementations already started in other boards, a single pregnancy record across Scotland using BadgerNet Maternity as the basis is an achievable goal in the near future. This will also allow a link into BadgerNet Neonatal, which is already in use not only across Scotland, but also the rest of the UK.
NHS Fife has started a phased implementation, with community midwives entering booking information using portable devices. Further aspects of the end-to-end maternity system will be rolled out in the coming months, including in patient events and Early Pregnancy.
