BadgerNet Maternity Notes- Women's Access
BadgerNet Maternity allows women to access their summary maternity data online. As a fully opt-in process, women can choose to see their pregnancy details on a dedicated iPhone app or over a web browser.
In addition, women can contribute to their record, allowing feedback and birth plans to be fed directly back to the unit and kept in the maternity record.
By allowing information to be shared with the woman direct from the maternity system in a controlled way, midwives do not have to double enter data onto paper handheld notes. In addition, BadgerNet Maternity Notes also allow the woman to update select information, which then transfers back into the maternity record. This includes the following features:
Pre-booking: Women can enter information about themselves such as occupation into Maternity Notes. This can be reviewed with the midwife at her booking appointment and then automatically brought into the system.
Plans and preferences for birth: Women can enter their plans and preferences for birth into Maternity Notes. This is automatically brought into their maternity record for clinicans to view.
Feedback: Women can enter feedback regarding their antenatal care and their labour and birth experiences. Again, this is transferred into the record and made available for reporting.
One of the key areas where units report having issues is women not attending scheduled appointments. The Maternity Notes app displays all appointments and can provide SMS texts/ reminders to women of all upcoming events.
Leaflets and resources
Trusts and Health Boards can publish their local resources and leaflets to the portal, allowing women to access the information online and avoiding the need for printing off information.
